Butterflies
Order Lepidoptera
Introduction
Difference Between a Butterfly and a
Moth
One of the most asks questions would have to be, what is the
difference between a butterfly and a moth? Because they belong
to the same order, the Lepidotera, it is often confusing
telling the difference, but here are a few easy ways.
The butterfly usually rests its wings closed while the
moth rests its wings open. The antenna of the butterfly is long
and thin while the moth's is usually short and feathery.
Butterflies love the daytime while the moth usually flies
around at night. Finally the butterfly makes a shiny chrysalis
while the moth make a silky cocoon.
